Glass Pickle Ornament

This is a custom known as Weihnachtsgurke, or Christmas Pickle, and has its roots set in Germany!

There are a few variations of the story, but legend goes that the first child to find the Christmas pickle ornament receives the first present, an extra present, or the job of handing out the presents, as well as good fortune for the year.

This glass pickle comes in a old world looking box with the following story on the back of the box...

"To start a tradition that will truly last, here is the story about the Christmas pickle made of glass.  The night before Christmas , it is hung on the tree while everyone is sleeping, it's done secretly. And on Christmas morning, when you arise, the first one to find it will get a surprise! A family tradition for all to share, you will look for the pickle year after year after year!"
